Over the bill between the German builder and the owner, authorities in Gibraltar say they have seized one of the largest and most advanced super yachts in the world. The ship’s builder, German firm Nobiskrug, has claimed there is an outstanding bill for the boat of $13.5 million and a further $7.5 million owed to contractors, according to German TV station NDR in overdue payments for the 143-meter (468-foot) -long Sailing Yacht A. The company’s website says the ship designed by French interior designer Philippe Starck.
Sailing Yacht A is one of the largest and most advanced yachts with unique features such as an underwater observation pod, hybrid diesel – electric propulsion, state of the art navigation. Three masts are the tallest and most highly loaded freestanding composite structures in the world.
The last thing you would want to happen to your thing of beauty is to have it be seized! The Russian billionaire’s £360 million super yacht – this must be somewhat embarrassing for Mr Melnichenko who Forbes estimates is worth around $17 billion. Not a situation that the boat builder is just willing to let the payment delay slide. Surely it will get sorted soon and Mr Melnichenko can get back to enjoying his new toy and sail the seas.
